Highlights from our Green Team

Sustainable Project

A scan of the approach roadway to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA was recently completed by WHPacific using the LYNX Mobile Mapper System. The LYNX allows our surveyors to collect engineering/survey grade LiDAR data over large areas at a high rate of speed (up to 60 mph!) with accuracies better than 5 cm, and resolutions up to 1 cm. Mobile scanning generates approximately 9 times less CO2 when compared to Static Scanning, so it’s good for our clients and the environment.

Asphalt is one of the most recycled materials in the world. A report from the Federal Highway Administration shows that 80% of the asphalt pavement that’s removed each year during widening and resurfacing projects is reused. The Environmental Protection Agency’s recycling rates for other materials shows 60% for aluminum cans, 56 % for newsprint, 37 % for plastic soft drink bottles, 31% for glass beverage bottles and 23 % for magazines. WHPacific is a member of the Asphalt Recycling and Reclaiming Association. For more information, check out www.arra.org and www.recyclingtoday.com/news/news.asp?ID=371
